Timmy Bouley invited me to join several great minds in Ocean Conservation to converse with the World Bank on their new Global Partnership for Oceans project. We convened on December 10th and discussed a range of topics including how the World Bank can use its brand and international clout to increase the pace of progress and incentivize action.

Timmy has promised to summarize what they’ve learned and he’ll share that soon.

Meanwhile, I’d like to welcome a few of the many new faces that we’ve recruited since my last update.

Dr. Wallace ‘J’ Nichols –Marine biologist, sea turtle expert, founder of BlueMarble.org among several other organizations. See the attached TedX talk to learn more about him.

Manuel Maqueda –Founder of Kumu (@KUMULab), @PlasticPollutes and member of @MidwayJourney and partner at @BlooSee. See attached video.

In addition, some notable members that who joined since my last post:

Arlo Hemphill – science communicator specializing in ocean conservation that works with Maryland Coastal Bay Program. Formerly communications lead at Stanford’s Center for Ocean Solutions and as Director of Global Marine Strategies for Conservation International.

Vicki Nichols Goldstein – founder of Colorado Ocean commission and board member of Blue Frontier campaign. Check out her profile to see her amazing list of ocean credentials: http://kapuno.com/people/ap2um6aaaig2a

Deb Castellana  – she “speaks for the Oceans” as the director of communications at Mission Blue / Sylvia Earle alliance.

We’ve grown from 38 the a week ago day to 70+ today.

There are obviously many others who I haven’t spoken to who should introduce themselves and their amazing work.
