Personally, the iPad 3 (iPad HD, now obselete :( ) is the perfect size and the retina display is beautiful at that size. The 7” form factor doesn’t really appeal to me since most any time I’m using my iPad, it’s either with both hands (via games or typing) or in my lap watching a movie or TV show.  I suppose I could see the appeal to someone who commutes alot (like my wife; she actually said she wanted one yesterday, said I should have waited to get her the 7” one).  But, for me, it just doesn’t make much sense.  I already have an iPhone and an iPad; adding a third device is just excessive.

I’m not going to lie though, if I had unlimited resources, I’d probably get one just for the novelty factor.  :)

I have an iPad 3 but never use it other then for testing. I prefer the Kindle when I’m having a sit-back-and-read experience.

Nope. In fact, just sold my iPad 2 and Macbook Pro for a single Macbook Air 11 inch. It’s the perfect device - darn close to the same size as the iPad 2, but with the full power of a real computer. I was on the iPad train for a while, but have come full circle to questioning its value. I travel a lot, so getting down to 1 device was a blessing also.

I’ll be getting an iPad mini for testing our apps. Thankfully Apple kept the same aspect ratio so we don’t have to  do much redesigning other than perhaps making some buttons larger. But I’ve been on a minimizing kick too. I’m not using my iPad 3 much (except for app development), I got rid of the air, and I’ve passed my huge iMac off to my developer. I’m working off a single Macbook Pro for everything now.

I sold my gen 1 ipad on amazon yesterday for $230 (poor bastard) and will spend the extra $100 to buy the ipad mini. The ipad mini has virtually the same specs as the ipad 3, which until yesterday was $499, in a smaller form factor.

No way.  I’m tired of the thinner/faster sell.  It’s good enough and, if they want my money, they need to deliver something fundamentally new like wearable computing gear, or tv.

I have the Galaxy S3 and it’s so big I practically call it my iPad mini

Agree Galaxy is the best.  :)
