I stumbled upon a Nokia phone concept and was inspired by it. Check out the attached video to see the possibilities. Note it’s a research concept, so some of the features may not actually be practical or useable.
It includes:
-
A flexible body
-
Tactile feedback
-
The ability to mutate the “skin” of the phone to manipulate the interface, e.g. bend to zoom, push to pan, etc.
-
The whole device can be used as an input and a display
The graphene electrodes allow for new form factors and innovative experiences.

I don’t have much to add to this other than, I think some parts of that concept have something special, the fuller range of touchscreen, the visual aspect, the flexing to browse photos…but on the whole, I don’t really know how much of that is necessary. Call me simple (although the definition of that is strongly misconstrued these days) but I enjoy the iphone for the fact that there’s a structure to its flow and a more intuitive use of pan and zoom.
And I might be clumsy, but I feel like that nokia would be a B in terms of accidental dials. “sorry dude, I accidentally bent my phone again” haha
