It’s good to see that Jakob agrees with my first instinct on Windows 8 — its requires a lot more thinking and memory to properly use the OS.
His main gripes surrounding the fact that users are required to remember where to go for features and have to remember all the things they’ve done in order to know how to get back to things.
This problem leaked over as he felt the inconsistency with the live tiles made it hard to know which app was which as the images on them changes with new news stories or articles.
Jakob Neilson has written some of the foundational works in usability and is, personally, one of my favorite experts on the matter.
Have you tried Windows 8, do you agree?
